A person may come across or display excessive submissiveness to the point of accepting abuse, i.e. sexual, physical and emotional. They may be unable to refuse to perform unpleasant acts and demands that are unreasonable and inhumane.

This person is not a FOOL, LAZY or MADLY IN LOVE to tolerate this pain and helplessness; they may be suffering from Dependent Personality Disorder (DPD).
People suffering from DPD give up all responsibilities to others to care for them. They have a depleting need for constant reassurance and cannot make decisions in all areas of their lives.
They are timid, anxious, indecisive, clingy, pessimistic, overly sensitive to criticisms and lacking self-confidence. They may appear patient, humble, calm, friendly and unable to say NO.
Dependent Personality Disorder is a mental health condition and is treatable with psychotherapy(talking therapy).
The point of mental health awareness is that when we see these signs in ourselves and others, we try to educate ourselves and seek help.

It is not always apparent to people who are not in the know or open to find out about certain disorders, this condition can have a serious impact on the person suffering from this disorder and cause anything from low self esteem to self harm and suicide. Always try to identify this disorder and help the person seek help.
